There are a few competition deadlines for the end of this week as it's also the end of the month. These are a mixture of poetry, short story and flash competitions. Entry fees and submission details vary, and many take email submission. So, read the entry requirements carefully at the links below. They vary considerably in requirements and in entry price (from free upwards). For even later deadlines see our competition page. August deadlines
Red Line Book Festival Poetry Competition 2013 - The competition is free to enter. The deadline is 30th August 2013. See here.
The Manchester Poetry Prize 2013 – poetry only – deadline 30th August 2013 see here
The Dromineer Literary Festival Writing Competition - deadline 30th August 2013, poetry and flash fiction. Further details: here
The Charles Macklin Poetry Competition 2013 - This comes from a Culdaff based festival in October - The 24th Charles Macklin Autumn School here.Postal entry with an €8 fee. The deadline for the competition is 30th August 2013 and details are here

Early September deadlines
Legends of the Fall - Irish Times Short Story Competition a competition to select a story (1,500 - 3,000 words) for the final week of the Legends of the Fall short story event. The deadline is 3rd September 2013, and submission is through the IT website see here and more terms and conditions here
Cara Poetry Competition - deadline 13th September 2013 - Bailieborough Poetry Festival. A poetry competition based on inspiration from quilting. The quilts are featured on this website
Late September deadlines
The Sunday Times EFG Private Bank Short Story Award 2013 - This has a massive prize £30,000 (1st prize) and other awards of £1,000. The deadline is 27th September 2013 and the max word count 6,000 words. In order to enter you must have published something in the UK or Ireland see here.
Flash 500 - quarterly competitions in humorous poetry, and flash (500 words). Deadline 30th September see here
The Rialto magazine - (a poetry magazine UK based) is running their annual nature poetry competition. The judge is Ruth Padel, the deadline is 30th September 2013. See further details at The Rialto
